-- What is TiVoToGo?

TiVo2Go allows you transfer programs from yourSeries 2 Stand Alone TiVo to your Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer over your home network.

Sonic has software available (at additional cost) to allow you to use your DVD burner and save the transfered show to disk.

-- What about Series 1, DirecTiVo,  or Mac Clients

TiVo has stated that it is up to DirecTV whether or not DirecTiVos get these sorts of updates.  DirecTV is clearly interested in other things since they have not allowed HMO to go to DirecTiVos.

Series 1 TiVos are not going to get this update.

At the time of this writing, there is the new client software is not available for the Macintosh.

Additionally it should be noted that TiVos with DVD recorders are not part of this initial release.

-- Is there support for USB version 2.0 in this release?

Orignally TiVoBill said that USB 2.0 was not included with this release.
Now he has reported that, "the drivers actually do use USB 2.0 where available but that is not expected to lead to any increase in transfer speeds for the most part since they are limited by other factors.".

Also obviously the hardware must support USB 2.0.  All series 2 TiVos support USB 2.0, with the exception of the earliest models.  I believe it AT&TiVo was 1.1.

-- Is there support for WPA?

Only using the TiVo branded wireless adaptor (purchased separately)

Some users have had success purchasing a Wired to Wireless bridge in order to use a WPA connection.

-- Will JavaHMO still work?

JavaHMO 2.1 works with the new TiVo Desktop 2.0.  However until TiVo releases the developer plug ins it wont be able to perform any of the show transfers.

-- So how'd we get to version 7 anyway, did I miss something?

They've had some version numbers used on specific  hardware platforms like the TiVos with DVD burners.  There is a new DirecTiVo that comes new with version 6 and that may be rolled out in the future to all DirecTiVo customers.
